The David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, is very pleased be working on behalf of the Sasuchan Development Corporation (SDC), to recruit an ABCFP registered candidate  Forestry Superintendent in Prince George, BC. 

The Sasuchan Development Corp. is a wholly owned business venture of the Takla Nation (TLFN), which owns and operates a variety of businesses both within expansive Takla Traditional Territory and across the province of British Columbia. 
Guided by a highly efficient leadership team with extensive combined experience developing business partnerships and forest operations across the province, SDC is in the early stages of development and is expected to grow significantly over the next 3 years. 

As a result, the David Aplin Group is actively interviewing candidates across Canada with expertise in Forest Planning and Harvesting Operations who are interested in a taking a leadership role with a forward-looking, new model business conglomerate applying innovative techniques and partnerships within BC’s forest industry epicenter. 

The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager, The Forestry Superintendent’s duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage all aspects of pre-harvest timber development and other forestry work on behalf SDC including: Contract administration, operational planning, field work, associated permit preparation and submissions, and the preparation of other professional documents such as site plans;
  • Supervise the quality and delivery of third party timber development contracts;
  • Work with Lands Department to implement the Stewardship Framework;
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for forestry operations in conjunction with the GM;
  • Develop, plan and implement programs, policies and procedures on behalf of Sasuchan as directed;
  • Build extensive and meaningful relationships with the community, Keyah members, and other stakeholders within the traditional territory;
  • Contribute, promote and ensure that the activities undertaken maintain the social, environmental, and cultural values of the Takla Nation;

The Ideal Candidate:
  • ABCFP Registered Professional Forester or Forest  Technologist
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Site Planning/Stewardship Planning, preferably in Northern or interior BC
  • Demonstrable ability to build functional relationships and collaborate with a variety of industry and community stakeholders  
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license
