David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for an Employee Relations Specialist.

As part of a new Centre of Excellence, the successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert on the front lines in all aspects of Employee Relations. Working hand in hand with the business Canada wide, the ER Specialist will consult with managers and employees to manage complex cases from inception to investigations. 
The Role:

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on performance management, attendance issues, conflict resolution, policy interpretation and violations, progressive discipline and workplace investigation.
  • Help resolution of employee related concerns and lead investigations in a manner that respects all concerned and communicate recommendations and results. 
  • Arrange documentation and correspondence for all employee relations matters and correspond with legal representatives.
  • Manage ER data to identify measure and analyze trends and provide regular reports to HR Business Partners.
  • Act as an advisor to HR leaders and business leaders by leveraging experience and business acumen.
  • Create and conduct training that helps build manager capability to prevent and resolve workplace issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with multifunctional teams.
 The Ideal Candidate:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in HR, IR or other related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation would be an asset. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in Employee Relations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities in French and English.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable employment standards and human rights legislation.
  • Skilled in dealing with workplace behavior issues and practices.
  • Strong problem solving, investigative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide informal coaching to individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrates high accountability, sound judgment and decision making abilities.
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills.
