David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Director of Procurement.  This position will be led out of Winnipeg, Manitoba Head Office with business being conducted throughout the West.

Our client is looking for a motivated individual who enjoys being challenged and is driven to succeed professionally with previous experience in Strategic Procurement Leadership.

Below is a brief outline of some of the responsibilities but is not limited to the following:-

The Role:
  • Manage, supervise, and coordinate the employees working within the assigned departments
  • Ensure that all employees are completing their assigned duties while adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Communicate job expectations with team; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job expectations
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement program to support the company’s goals
  • Budget development and forecasting
  • Meet or exceed budget expectations
  • Contribute procurement information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans, implement execution, quality and customer service standards, resolve problems, complete audits, identify trends
  • Create and manage relationships with key vendors and contacts internationally
  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team
  • Streamline tendering and trade negotiations process Required
The Ideal Candidate:
  • 8+ years’ experience in the procurement industry, of which there must be exposure to construction materials
  • Formal education preferred in a related field
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must be detail oriented, analytical, problem solver and creative thinker
  • Ability to work independently and perform at a high level of accuracy
  • Highly committed to meeting all deadlines and goals
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong management skills and ability to build lasting relationships
  • Ability to travel to all markets of operation across Canada and occasional international travel
