David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our well-established client in the manufacturing industry to recruit a Director, Human Resources for their Canadian Operations based in Regina. With the desired to be hands on as well as strategic, this role requires someone who is a strategic business partner as well as someone who can drive transformation and results with their strong HR skillset and the ability to relate well to others. We are looking for an experienced professional with strong critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills to support and manage a professional team which delivers critical services to the organization including talent development, personnel policies, employee relations, recruiting and regulatory compliance for other manufacturing facilities in Canada.
Develop and lead HR strategies regarding organizational development, talent and performance management, staffing, retention, recruiting in both union and non-union environments;
Provide advice, counsel, and coaching on all matters relating to the business and human capital issues;
Ensure the HR function's priorities and efforts are customer centric and aligned to the execution of the business strategy;
Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of plant personnel to understand daily operations ensuring facilities develop and maintain a solid pool of talent for various levels of positions;
Ensure that there is a focus to drive culture change focusing on employee engagement to become an employer of choice;
Counsel local Human Resources teams through collective bargaining processes; and assist in collective bargaining where needed;
Focus on developing a collaborative labor management partnership
Effectively support a large, dynamic team of people.
The Ideal Candidate:
Must have a Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field
A minimum of 10 years of human resources experience with a CPHR certification preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and highly effective conflict resolution/mediation skills
Must have experience in both union and non-union environments
Must be a motivator and coach of staff; creating a cooperative working environment
Is strategic, can realign operations and procedures and is knowledgeable regarding the creation of policy.
Can administer and negotiate collective bargaining agreements
Valid passport with the ability to travel to the US is required.
