David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Director, Business Development.  Our client is a merchant services organization located North Mississauga.  They are looking for an individual with 5+ years of business development and/or account manager experience in the payment/merchant services industry to join our team to lead our business development efforts.

As Director of Business Development, you will take a leading role working directly with their CEO and VP of Business Development to develop and translate key account leads into successful ongoing client relationships. 

The Role:

  • Leverage existing personally developed networks to generate own business leads
  • Identify and attend relevant conferences and industry events to develop and foster relationships within specific industries, as well as develop additional leads
  • Follow-up on inbound leads received and assess for urgency/prioritization
  • Meet with potential clients for initial and subsequent discussions, including local and international travel as needed
  • Lead and assist the merchant through the onboarding process
  • Assist with training key accounts as part of onboarding process
  • Assist with ongoing management of key accounts you have developed
  • Use CRM to log ongoing account activities and feedback
  • Maintain knowledge of target market through research, experience, and relationship development
  • Leverage analytical and empirical information to provide valuable feedback to our CEO and other senior management
  • Work with our CEO to develop and execute business development strategies for specific key accounts as well as general business segments
  • Supervise junior business development staff on lower priority accounts or business development support activities.
The Ideal Candidate: 

  • Fluency in English
  • Strong English Speaking and Writing
  • 5+ years in the payment (or related) industry
  • A strong list of merchant and B2B partner contacts
  • Self-starter who is ready to dive in right away and start pitching
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Understanding of Chinese is a bonus but not requirement
Salary: $80,000.00+
