David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Data/BI Analyst.

Our client, based in Edmonton, is looking for a Data/BI Analyst to spearhead an exciting new project.

This successful resource will be responsible for the development, administration and support of existing database systems warehouses and Business Intelligence reports. Prior experience in Finance or Pricing will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will source information from a variety of internal systems and other technology solutions pertinent for meeting reporting and business needs.

The Role:

  • Work with business analysts and business users to define and document the scope and functional requirements for data and reporting need
  • Make recommendations for reporting that would better meet business needs
  • Design conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse using standard data warehouse modeling, methodologies and processes
  • Assist with the management of regularly scheduled and ad-hoc reporting
  • Develop standards and processes related to data cleansing, data quality and data consolidation
  • Develop, test, manage, schedule and document data warehouse operations and tasks
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff with regards to data warehouse process and practices
The Ideal Candidate:

  • University degree in Computer Science with 3 years’ experience of progressively responsible experience in data administration and development and 3 years’ experience with data warehousing concepts, data and dimensional modeling is required
  • Relevant experience in Financial applications and Project Management experience considered assets
  • DBA skills are considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of system, database & integration technologies
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proficiency writing stored procedures with MS Transact-SQL
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and conceptual skills
  • Ability to synthesize diverse inputs and information to formulate cohesive data architecture
  • Able to prioritize, plan, organize, multi-task, work well under time constraints and respond to internal and external demands
  • Good time management, strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Quality and end-user focused
