David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Compensation Manager – $100,000 - $110,000 base + bonus.

The Role:

  • Support all the company’s various global programs that include: salary structures, short-term variable compensation plans, the long-term incentive plan, working with both internal and external providers.
  • Respond to inquiries from HR Business Partners and, as needed, proactively identify and resolve any issues identified that present risks or opportunities to the organization.
  • Manage the annual year-end/merit review process, ensuring timelines and program objectives are met and compiling a comprehensive analysis of the results.  Effectively guide and administer the promotion and adjustment process, develop recommendations, and monitor cost and budget limitations.
  • Monitor compensation program effectiveness to ensure alignment with business strategy and financial modeling, researching best practices and recommending enhancements/changes as appropriate.
  • Oversee the sourcing of global competitive intelligence, ensuring participation in multiple compensation surveys and networking groups to ensure insight is gathered around base pay, equity and incentive programs remain competitive.
  • Oversee job evaluation techniques and associated practices to ensure that the integrity of the company’s job structure is preserved.
  • Act as an internal consultant and subject matter expert, provide guidance and make recommendations to all levels of line management on compensation issues, policies and procedures, as well as, interpreting provincial, state, and federal laws regulating compensation practices.
The Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field.
  • 5- 7 years in a compensation role that encompasses all aspects of compensation.
  • Proven experience in design and development of a Total Rewards framework relevant for both Canada and the US.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy focused including skill with numeric detail, excellent problem solving, analytical and research skills in order to gather information.
  • Ability to display a high degree of confidentiality and professional judgment, strong organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to changing business conditions.
  • Experience with Sales and  Executive Compensation.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead change management initiatives across a diverse set of businesses.
  • Assist with executive compensation by conducting annual proxy analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise information to executive teams.
  • Proven planning and organization skills with the aptitude and agility to accommodate shifting priorities, manage multiple assignments simultaneously and manage tight timelines.
  • CCP designation is an asset.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Excel and other Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Highly collaborative approach to work that develops the right outcomes across a variety of stakeholders, while building trust and confidence during the process.
