C++ Software Developer

David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, an established FinTech company, to recruit a talented Software Developer. 

Reporting directly to the Director of Product Engineering, the successful incumbent will be using C/C++ code in an object-oriented fashion to help design and enhance the payment processing and ancillary applications, on both an embedded and hosted platform. We are looking for a passionate, individual experienced in C++ development, with a foundation in object oriented design. 

The Role: 

  • Applying open source libraries as tools to extend the functionality and track/diagnose issues.
  • Networking connection application development including serial, ethernet, and wireless.
  • Integrate pin pad API’s into client’s code that allows point-of-sale vendors to implement their solutions with connectivity options to suit most merchant’ environments.
  • Work closely with other developers providing guidance and mentorship on new programming techniques and tools.
  • Design ad hoc applications to test, enhance and deploy product, and work with sales to fix problems and implement features.
  • Work with rest of team to constantly improve security, infrastructure and design techniques.
  • Adapt to changing hardware and peripheral environments and modifying the code base to integrate into them. Such as Android devices, or wireless routers.
  • Analyze and create project plans on implementing new features and designs.
 The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (preferred) or Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience with C++ programming.
  • Experience with network connection application development.
  • Proven experience with Object-Oriented Design and building out API’s.
  • Familiarity with embedded software development.
  • Proven experience with full SDLC.
  • Possess a detail-oriented and highly communicative personality to interact with Product Management, Operations, and other software designers. 
  • Proven innovative approaches to projects and demonstrated self-sufficiency.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Resolve problems with minimal direction.
