Our client, one of Canada's premier manufacturers is seeking an energetic, analytical thinker with excellent organizational skills and a customer focus to join their team as a Buyer; position based in Winnipeg, MB.  Our client is looking for an individual who will help bring the company to the next step!

The Role:
  • Primary responsibilities will include purchasing of parts, materials, supplies and services, standard and custom, higher value, more strategic items.
  • You will negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers/partners on behalf of our client and implement alternative procurement sources to minimize stock replacement times, inventory levels and costs; while ensuring regular contacts with suppliers/partners to ensure long term partnering benefits.
  • Your market analyses experience in bringing new suppliers and product innovation into the purchasing portfolio will be critical to your success.
  • With your strong analyses skills, you will have experience analyzing and managing contractual agreements and preparing re negotiations and subsequent negotiations.
  • Expediting open purchase orders ensuring delivery of purchased components as required by production.
  • Your working knowledge of systems, standards, and specifications along with your, will enable you to forecast inventory levels and create and follow purchasing plans to ensure inventory is neither depleted nor overstocked.
  • You will source vendors worldwide in securing the optimum price. Analyzing global economies and market prices to identify new pricing opportunities.
  • Maintain integrity and implement the purchasing system including the integrity of purchasing data base relative to lead times, pricing accuracy, etc. and updating order status relative to expedited ship dates to ensure proper costing, lead-times and to comply with CCRA, supplier and accounting imperatives.
  • Managing and developing supplier relationships and recommending new, primary and secondary suppliers.
  • Review and evaluate industry trends with emphasis on material cost projections (in order to be pro-active to price increases), new material development (substituting high quality/low cost alternate materials for current higher priced supply) and new vendor partner creation/initiation (increased competition better service).
  • Accountable for the control of expenses and the adherence to the budgets on individual fixture projects.
  • Provide status reports directly and indirectly to senior management on various programs.
  • Working with project and production managers to determine parts needed to be purchased and manufactured, internally or externally.

  • Is ready to enforce procurement policies and to create timely, cost-effective product acquisition, delivery plans, and schedules.
  • Possess superior planning and communications skills will allow you to assign work, establish delivery requirements while meeting cost reduction targets in consultation with other team members.
  • Will ensure your success in this role by bringing with you experience in a similar role.
  • Will identify potential sources of supply and negotiate competitive pricing while meeting our technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
