David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with one of our most prestigious clients to recruit for a long term contract position as a Buyer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established policies/procedures. The Buyer is also responsible for the daily maintenance/accuracy of the purchasing system information.
Procures goods and services, observing established policies & procedures
Assists in the tender analysis process for specific supplies
Responsible for the expediting and return of goods as required
Obtains necessary pricing for requisitioned inventory and non-inventory items as per established policies
Maintains/upgrades electronic data interchange ordering system.
Processes vendor set-up
Inputs & modifies information in database
Maintains office filing, including vendor lists & catalogues
Assists in training of staff, as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Has an a friendly, open and professional manner
Communicates messages & information accurately and appropriately, and prioritizes calls
Identifies customer needs and makes every effort to meet customer expectations in a friendly, helpful and professional manner
Knows and supports the mission/vision of the company
Supports and adheres to facility and departmental policies
Maintains confidentiality of all company information
Respects and supports senior leadership decisions
Maintains and upgrades skills and knowledge as required
Has strong technical skills; has extensive knowledge with a variety of software (ie. SAP, Microsoft Office Suite)
Performs other related duties as required
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate from a recognized two-year Business Administration Diploma Program required
Additional courses in EDP, Principles of Buying and Inventory Control required
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business preferred
A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
