David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Business Development Manager.

Our client is a multi-divisional company across Alberta and British Columbia that provides quality replacement parts and service for a wide range of construction and transportation equipment. Supporting a variety of industries such as petroleum exploration and production, forestry, road building, mining, farming, waste management, and highway transportation, they are seeking a Business Development Manager to join their Nisku, AB team. 

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for focusing on growth with large and difficult to develop customers. 

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, and experienced in tactical growth planning, and account management.

The Role:

  • Promote and sell heavy equipment parts, undercarriage, shop services and a range of heavy equipment related sundries
  • Grow sales within existing and targeted major accounts, and grow market shares in designated market sectors
  • Develop and implement a territory plan and marketing strategies to prospect new business in assigned market sectors
  • Act as a liaison between customers and the company for all aspects of sales 
  • Cold call prospective new customers 
  • Provide customers with quotes and proposals for new products, current offerings and purchasing options
  • Prepare quarterly call plans with emphasis on the most effective territory and customer coverage
  • Manage customers by updating customer profiles weekly and monthly within the territory plans 
  • Prepare and conduct presentations and events to promote products and features
  • Complete and submit weekly call reports to the Regional Manager for review
  • Maintain, update and submit weekly sales pipeline information
  • Overnight travel to meetings, conferences, etc. as required
  • Remain current on competitive marketplace to ensure customers receive the best value possible
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Postsecondary education and/or 5-10 years’ equivalent experience in a sales and marketing environment
  • Must have a strong knowledge of the heavy equipment industry and markets and a mechanical aptitude
  • Comfortable selling in both blue collar and white collar environments with proven success in a sales capacity including identifying and engaging new customers/business opportunities 
  • Professional attitude and solid business acumen with excellent negotiation, problem solving and influential decision-making skills
  • Customer centric and effective team player with a proven ability with relationship management
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, results driven and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word (DBS and SIS would be an asset)
  • Creative ability for developing presentations and promotions for industrial products 
  • Willing and able to travel as required and possess a valid Driver’s license and clean Driver’s abstract
