Our client is seeking a strong leader to join their team. As a Leader, you will report to the Vice President Information Services Operations and Service Management. This role calls for a candidate who is able to balance the need for constant technology change with operational stability. 

The Role:

  • Provide leadership for Operations Support team, through job coaching, skills training and structured development
  • Manage staff to ensure adequate coverage, including on-call
  • Create and maintain assignment descriptions for Operations Support on an annual basis
  • Develop, maintain and review performance management plans for Operations Support quarterly
  • Actively participate in management meetings and communicate information to teams appropriately
  • Maintain communications with customers, management and staff to ensure services are delivered as agreed
  • Create, submit and manage annual budget for area
  • Prioritize operational and tactical initiatives on demand and escalate when required
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development and support of all production technologies including applications, user and member facing technologies, and technologies not perceivable by users or members
  • Practice asset management for IS hardware, software and equipment
  • Work collaboratively with teams following Incident Management Process to restore normal service operation as quickly as possible
  • Provide a channel for users to request and receive standard services for which a pre-defined approval and qualification process exists 
  • Ensure Operations Support is ready and able to deliver when a new service is added
  • Provide Tier 1 and 2 support for Incidents and Requests in the Production, Disaster Recovery and Training environments
  • Document operational models to deal with recurring problems that cannot be eliminated
  • Identify problems, document and validate workarounds, and analyze and resolve problems in the scope of responsibility
  • Provide input into the assessment of other functional organization’s proposed changes
  • Monitor trends of current utilization and estimate future requirements, using trends and thresholds for planning upgrades and enhancements
  • Analyze and assess impacts of unplanned service outages
  • Any other duties as assigned or required
The Ideal Candidate:

  • 5 years’ experience in a Senior Management position with a medium to large sized organization
  • 10 years’ experience in managing system operations, including applications, infrastructure and end user services
  • University, college or technical degree in information technology or business
  • Experience in the financial sector (preferably in banking) is considered an asset
  • Ability to lead the implementation of new delivery models, processes and services
  • Proficiency in general management 
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent ability to analyze and motivate with strong negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well, listen attentively, and be a creative and conceptual thinker
