David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a leading Architectural firm that designs and details retail and commercial spaces for the North American market.
The Intermediate Architectural Technologist is responsible for preparing a complete set of architectural documents and collaborating with the team in all aspects of the preparation of construction documents in line with the client and company standards. The qualified individual will be expected to perform a variety of architecture related tasks and work with supervisors for timely completion of deliverables.
Site visits with supervision and creation of a report for internal review
Site audits with supervision and creation of site audit package
Preparation of project information sheet
Assist in completion of permit documents for permitting department
Coordinate architectural drawings with all documents produced by outside consultants
Collaborates with team members, consultants and clients/external project managers
Preparation of drawing check sets
Completion of the company and/or client red lines
Creation of permit and/or construction drawings
Assist in ensuring designs and deliverables conform to design guidelines, code requirements and other regulations
Assist Coordinators/PM with identifying and resolving site-specific issues
Creation of tender packages
Internal project file maintenance
Ensure that all health & safety procedures are followed and all personal protective equipment is worn, as required
Work with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to understand the scope of services and potential scope creep within each project
Review project budget hours and ensure time is in line with tasks
The Ideal Candidate:
3-5 years’ experience in the Architectural/Planning/Design field
Diploma in Architectural Technology or Bachelor of Architectural Science
High proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
Technical knowledge of construction detailing, construction methods and building systems
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong leadership skills; able to lead by example
Ability to mentor Architectural Technologists in project and company related procedures
Organized, with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work well in a team environment, but also able to operate independently
Ability to supervise staff and workflow
Advanced understanding of guidelines, code requirements, and other regulations
Strong organization skills
Advanced knowledge of all applicable building codes
