David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for an Account Manager.

Our client, who manufactures engineered steel products for rail, energy and industrial end markets at six production sites located in the USA (Portland, Oregon; Pueblo, Colorado) and Canada (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Camrose and Red Deer, Alberta). They are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and they hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.

The Role:

The primary responsibility of the Account Manager is to develop and maintain the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) business among Oil and Gas producers within the Canadian market. The Account Manager will be responsible for promoting and increasing awareness of these products, as well as gathering and tracking information that will facilitate growth of the business.

  • Market OCTG products to new and existing Canadian oil and gas producers
  • Maintain account plans and actions at these producers to pull products through the distributor
  • Increase awareness of brand through customer presentations of the OCTG products
  • Maintain a customer database that will include contacts and 3 year plans
  • Develop visibility within the industry associations and potential new customers
  • Maintain a network that will supply market intelligence in order to ensure that the company meets the needs of customers today and that any future needs are identified and can be developed
  • Participate in the development and execution of marketing initiatives that are consistent with the strategy and goals of the company
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of tubular products and connections used in the oil and gas industry
  • Proven ability to find and maintain new customers within the market segment
  • Strong communication skills: verbal and written, along with excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work and think independently
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • 5+ years experience in the oil and gas industry and OCTG and line pipe 
It is crucial to have at least 5 years of experience and working knowledge of OCTG and line pipes for this role.
