This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced business development professional who can build relationships, generate new business, and close high-value construction opportunities.

The Opportunity
As a Business Development Specialist, you will be responsible for developing new business across Alberta and growing the organization’s presence in the market. You will identify and pursue new opportunities, build relationships with key industry stakeholders, and lead opportunities from initial prospecting through to signed contract.
This is an ideal opportunity for a proven construction business development professional who enjoys building their own pipeline and wants significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a direct impact on a growing market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy for the Alberta market
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new commercial, industrial, and design-build opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other key project stakeholders
- Generate and manage a qualified sales pipeline from initial lead through to contract execution
- Lead client meetings, presentations, proposals, and commercial negotiations
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and leadership teams to develop competitive proposals
- Identify opportunities for repeat business, referrals, and long-term client partnerships
- Attend industry events, networking opportunities, trade shows, and client meetings
- Stay informed on Alberta construction activity, market trends, and upcoming projects
- Support the continued growth and development of the Calgary office and Alberta market
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business development, technical sales, account management, pre-construction, or a related role
- Experience within construction, general contracting, design-build, engineering, commercial real estate, industrial services, or a similar project-based industry
- Proven track record of independently generating and closing new business
- Experience selling complex, high-value B2B projects
- Strong understanding of construction budgets, scopes, procurement, contracts, and project delivery
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
- Comfortable working independently and managing a sales territory
- Strong CRM and Microsoft 365 skills
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly
- Established Alberta construction network is an asset
- Metal building, steel construction, or pre-engineered building experience is an asset
