We’re partnering with a well-established insurance platform looking to add a Commercial Auto Underwriter to their growing Toronto team. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a high-impact role focused on mid-to-large fleet underwriting, broker relationship management, and portfolio growth.
You’ll be joining a collaborative team environment with strong underwriting support, where autonomy and performance are valued without rigid KPIs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Underwrite and manage commercial auto risks, including mid-to-large fleets and construction-related accounts
- Handle policies typically ranging from $50K–$100K+ in premium (larger risks prioritized)
- Manage and grow a portfolio of $3M–$6M in premium
- Drive new business through strong broker relationships and strategic market engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners through regular meetings and networking
- Oversee a primarily Ontario-based portfolio, with some exposure to multi-region risks
- Collaborate with a national underwriting support team for processing and administrative functions
What You Bring
- 4+ years of commercial auto underwriting experience
- Proven ability to manage mid-to-large fleet accounts
- Strong broker relationship management and business development mindset
- Outgoing, confident communicator with a natural ability to build relationships
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
- Hybrid model: Minimum 2 days in-office (team day on Wednesdays)
- Collaborative team of 4, reporting into a senior underwriting leader
- High level of autonomy with performance measured on overall contribution rather than strict quotas
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary $80,000 – $100,000+, depending on experience)
- Annual bonus program (~10% of base salary)
