About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial management of project-based operations. This role is highly integrated with the business, working closely with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate job costing, financial reporting, and operational insights.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a project-driven environment, taking ownership of full-cycle accounting while contributing to decision-making across active jobs and overall business performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close, including reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analysis
- Oversee job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs, budgets, and profitability
- Manage and review full-cycle accounting, including AR, AP, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
- Partner with project managers to provide financial visibility into ongoing and completed projects
- Monitor inventory, materials usage, and cost allocations within a fabrication/manufacturing setting
- Support cash flow management, banking, and account reconciliations
- Track fixed assets, equipment, leases, and capital expenditures
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis
- Maintain year-end working papers and liaise with external accountants
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting accuracy
- Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA preferred
- 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Experience in project-based environments such as construction, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial services strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of job costing, inventory, and project accounting
- Experience working closely with operations or project teams is highly desirable
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across teams
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive, hands-on mindset with a problem-solving approach
Compensation
- Base salary in the range of $70,000 – $85,000, depending on experience
