Aplin has partnered with a growing organization in Calgary to recruit an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle and contributing to accurate financial reporting in a collaborative environment.
Position Overview
The Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations while supporting month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation. This role works closely with the finance team to ensure financial records are accurate, well-documented, and compliant with accounting standards across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports
- Perform detailed general ledger account reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany accounts
- Support external audit preparation and year-end financial review
- Prepare documentation and schedules required for audit and compliance purposes
- Assist with variance analysis, financial analysis, and management reporting
- Prepare and file sales tax returns, including GST, HST, and QST
- Support internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Experience with year-end close and external audits
- Strong experience with financial reporting and account reconciliation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
- Experience using ERP systems such as Sage, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar
