Aplin has partnered with a reputbale organization to recruit an Intermediate Engineer (12-Month Contract) – P.Eng Required – Calgary
Position Overview
The Intermediate Engineer will be responsible for supporting and/or leading the administration, engineering design, contract preparation, tendering/procurement, project management, and quality control of major storm, sanitary, and water infrastructure capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously; prepare in-house studies, budgets, executive reports, and other relevant written documentation required to deliver projects.
- Design water, storm, and sanitary infrastructure, including determination of flow quantities, hydraulic analysis, route and material selection, land requirements, and cost estimates.
- Deliver presentations to stakeholder groups and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including organizing public information sessions where required.
- Prepare engineering construction drawings, obtain necessary approvals, develop materials lists, and prepare tender specifications for construction contracts.
- Provide contract administration support during construction of major infrastructure projects and coordinate survey and drafting personnel as required.
- Assist in resolving issues that may arise during construction.
- Prepare terms of reference and support the selection of external consultants for project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving the P.Eng designation.
- Current licensure with a Canadian provincial engineering regulatory body with practicing status.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of current design standards, urban development procedures, linear wastewater and stormwater infrastructure design, and environmental standards.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in tendering, contract administration, and managing consultant work.
Project DetailsSpecific project assignments will be determined based on the selected engineer’s experience and capabilities.
