Our client in Downtown Toronto, ON, a leader in their field, is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, International Taxation to join their corporate tax team. This is a high-impact role focused on complex international tax planning, cross-border structuring, foreign affiliate oversight, and global capital efficiency initiatives. Permanent Opportunity.

Responsibilities
- Lead international tax planning initiatives, including structuring cross-border transactions such as acquisitions, reorganizations, financing, and capital optimization.
- Oversee Canadian tax matters related to foreign affiliates, including surplus, ACB, excluded property, and related analyses.
- Drive implementation and execution of OECD Pillar Two requirements.
- Collaborate closely with finance, treasury, legal, and tax teams across Canada, the U.S., and other jurisdictions.
- Work closely with U.S.-based tax teams, requiring periodic travel to support collaboration and alignment.
- Oversight of compliance work prepared by a tax team based in India.
- Manage tax authority audits and resolve complex international tax issues.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering strong development and knowledge-sharing.
Must Have:
- 8+ years of tax experience with a strong Canadian international tax focus
- Expertise in Canadian foreign affiliate rules and cross-border structuring
- University degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
- CPA designation, CPA In-Depth Tax Program (Parts I–III), or Master of Taxation
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning and structuring projects
- Financial services or insurance industry experience
- U.S. tax exposure (Canadian perspective is the priority)
