Aplin has partnered with our client, a well-established legal boutique, to hire an Estate Litigation Law Clerk to join their Toronto office. This full-time, hybrid role will support a high-volume estate litigation practice and be responsible for managing case files from start to finish.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing case files and ensuring all court filing deadlines are met (Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions).
- Preparing and organizing legal documentation, including:
- Affidavits
- Factums
- Briefs of Authorities
- Financial Statements
- Applications and Motions
- Handling key estate litigation matters, including:
- Guardianships of Property
- Will Challenges
- Passing of Accounts
- Conducting legal research and due diligence to support case preparation.
- Drafting correspondence to clients, counsel, and court officials.
- Conducting title searches and addressing title-related issues.
- Liaising with clients and offering clear, professional communication during sensitive proceedings.
- Ensuring client records, files, and calendars are maintained and up to date.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in litigation (experience with estate litigation will be considered an asset).
- Previous experience in a performance based environment with billable KPIs.
- Familiarity with Clio Manage, Lawmatics, Estateably, and Infoware/WordLX considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet tight deadlines.
