As the Director of Human Resources, you will be a key member of the executive/leadership team and be heavily involved in setting and executing the HR strategy for the business.

 

You will be responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of HR Programs which requires a true strategic business partner who is collaborative and capable of building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes.

 


Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional coaching and consulting to business leaders across the organization through direction, support, and guidance on all people-related issues 
  • Partner with the leadership team to design, implement, and evaluate an HR talent management strategy to achieve the organization’s goals and create value for stakeholders.  Oversee the development of the next generation of leaders across all levels of the organization and facilitate talent review processes to ensure follow-up activities are delivered
  • Identify ways to increase staff retention and productivity including strategies to enhance employee engagement, leadership, staff development, regular feedback and coaching, career pathing, and promoting a coherent organizational culture
  • Oversee talent acquisition to ensure that the organization is effectively and efficiently sourcing and selecting the right candidates 
  • Oversight of the Occupational Health and Safety strategy
  • Create a performance management process making sure that the managers are equipped to engage in constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching as well as encouraging staff to actively participate in identifying and addressing performance gaps 
  • Mitigate legal risk to the organization through proactive training and education, establishing clear systems and processes for managing conflicts with and between employees, oversee the handling and investigation of employee relations
  • Maintain current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations at the provincial and federal levels relating to employment and ensure organizational compliance. This includes educating and advising managers and senior leaders on HR-related and legal regulatory matters and ensuring HR programs, practices, and policies are aligned 
  • Design and implement a competitive compensation system and program to attract and retain staff.  Partner with leadership to develop a total rewards pay program, regularly review compensation and benefits market data, monitor pay practices and proactively address issues  



Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education preferred with CPHR/CHRL designation
  • 10 years of progressive HR business partner experience ideally in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated ability to set and communicate a strategic vision, strong leadership capability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders 
  • Proven ability to impact and influence at all levels of the organization to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to develop and implement HR strategies while balancing the day-to-day tactical HR needs.
  • Proven ability to interpret, evaluate and apply regulations, policies, and procedures to a wide variety of work situations
  • Must have a strategic approach and be very interested in the challenge of shaping the talent growth strategy of an evolving company
  • Able to think analytically about the HR function and develop metrics and measures to evaluate programs
