Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate safety training programs, ensuring that all programs are current and develop any new programs
  • Conduct new employee health and safety orientations
  • Maintain compliance and awareness for safety and environmental issues, conducting regular inspections
  • Promote health and safety awareness updates to employees via the company newsletter, seminars, etc
  • Manage training records and knowledge requirements 
  • Maintain compliance with legislation, accident investigation, safety and environment inspections, WHMIS and Emergency Preparedness
  • Investigate workplace accidents, follow up with safety representatives, and provide support for corrective strategies
  • Coordinate return to work and WCB claims
  • Continuously assess the OH&S progress and related KPIs, creating strategies to resolve system gaps 
  • Participate in strategic planning to support safety personnel to foster a strong safety culture 
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation and effective communication within all levels of the organization 
  • Perform duties compliant with ISO 9001 standards 
  • Provide regular communication with department Supervisors to ensure the proper facilitation of safety training 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:
  • 5 plus years of experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator ideally with 3 plus years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of Manitoba Workplace Safety legislation
  • 3 plus years of Post Secondary education
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Proficient TQI skills, strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
