Join a leading employer and take your career to the next level! Aplin has partnered with a Winnipeg-based company to hire a Manager of Accounting. Reporting to the Director of Financial, this role involves managing the accounting staff and driving process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accounting staff and manage all aspects of daily accounting, including month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Handle financial reporting, account reconciliation and analysis, review operating results, report variances, and develop recommendations as needed.
  • Manage the accounting department, including training staff, setting objectives, delegating workloads, providing direction, conducting performance appraisals, and addressing HR matters as required.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses for the senior management team.
  • Liaise with external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial policies.
  • Drive process improvement within the department.
  • Assist with budgeting and planning for the department.


Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Relevant post-secondary education.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI) and Standards Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Over 5 years of progressive supervisory experience, ideally in a public sector environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with an ERP system; experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience in financial management and administration within a healthcare environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of planning and budgeting processes.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others, including guiding, mentoring, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Experience interacting with all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to communicate with various internal and external stakeholders in a large, complex public sector environment.
  • Diplomatic skills to facilitate mutually beneficial solutions with stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • A criminal record check and Child and Adult Registry Check will be required for the successful candidate.
