As a pivotal member of the Executive team, the VP of Finance and Administration reports directly to the organization's President.  This role is instrumental in shaping corporate strategy and overseeing critical functions including finance, budgeting, banking, accounting, administration, IT, and tax management across the organization and its affiliates. The VP of Finance and Administration is a trusted fiduciary, initiating proactive conversations that drive business performance enhancements and mitigate risks.

  • Controller (1 position)
  • Administrative Analyst Lead (1-2 positions)
  • Office Manager, Saskatoon (1 position)
Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Oversight:
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management team to set and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities to direct reports.
  • Oversee risk management, and IT operations (including cybersecurity), and drive continuous improvements in systems and processes.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide financial education and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Offer informed financial insights and advice to the President and Senior Management team.
Financial Management and Oversight:
  • Analyze financial variances and oversee billing and account management.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Support the sales team with data-driven pricing strategies and profitability assessments.
  • Ensure efficient accounts receivable management and optimize cash flow and working capital.
Reporting and Compliance:
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Foster strong relationships with the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead monthly forecasting processes and coordinate audit schedules and analyses.
  • Manage mergers and acquisitions processes and ensure compliance with government reporting requirements.
  • Oversee profit-sharing, bonus programs, and commission calculations, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger for strategic decision-making.
Travel: Approximately 25% of travel is required to branches and the Calgary head office

Qualifications:
  • A University degree with a professional accounting qualification (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • 15+ years of previous accounting experience
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience of 3+ person teams
  • Experience in a commission sales-based environment would be an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creative problem solver ability to take financial information identify gaps and opportunities sharing information in a timely and relevant manner to support business opportunities
  • Self-motivated, flexible, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision
  • Able to interact seamlessly and with a professional demeanor across a broad range of individuals including members of the operations team, Senior Management team and Board of Directors
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Office products including Power BI or other data analytic tools
