Job Summary:
The Roads General Superintendent supports the operational performance of the roads teams. They will provide leadership to the roads superintendents (Paving, Base, Concrete, Utilities) while focusing on safety, ethics, quality control, industry best practices and production. They will ensure corporate interests are met while maintaining a client focused emphasis.

Responsibilities:
- Positively promote and demonstrate Goal Zero initiative
- Organize, develop and effectively communicate work schedules with the superintendents
- Monitor and update a schedule that meets our project prioritie
- Lead weekly scheduling meetings
- Oversee the efficient use of resources, materials, and labour necessary to complete various projects in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot project concerns such as bad weather, scheduling conflicts, quality control issues, labour issues, contractor and/or client concerns and other unforeseeable matters.
- Manage construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
- Maintain a record of work on hand for roads operations
- Manage efficient supply of materials through communication with all material suppliers
- Attend site meetings with clients and contractors as required
- Ensure succession for key positions within the roads operation team
- Assist the Construction Manager in growing the roads department through innovation and keeping to date on industry trends
- Report status of operations team progress, staff, and equipment requirements to the Construction Manager
- Care for the morale of the department through empowerment, constructive feedback and coaching of the roads operational team
- Share your knowledge and experience to assist estimating team with tender reviews to ensure efficiencies and competitiveness
- Dare to develop and implement new business strategies to be a leader in transportation infrastructurePromote the corporate mandate and core values (caring, sharing and daring)
- Other duties as required
Education and Work Experience
- 10 years experience in road construction, preferably base, concrete, paving, utilities
- Post-Secondary education is an asset; such as, CET, diploma, PMP, or Construction Management
- Combinations of experience and education will be considered
- Ability to multi-task multiple priorities and strict deadline
- Knowledge of estimating and project management processe
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of JDE, Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, Cority, Fleetwatcher, and Vizzn
- Comprehension of various specification of various project
- Ability to read and understand blueprint drawings
