David Aplin Group has partnered with our client, a leader in the field to lead their next search for an experienced Project Engineer on a full-time contract basis with a great potential to become permanent, located in Sparwood, BC. They are open to offering camp accommodation and the schedule is Monday to Friday one week and another week Monday to Thursday the following week.
  • Prepares and reviews RFPs for external vendors and companies to provide services and products on this project, such as to design engineering, electrical, mechanical, and installation companies
  • Manages change orders, seeking approval and maintaining change logs
  • Coordination of site groups, such as plant processing, instrumentation, maintenance, engineering, and construction
  • Works closely between construction management and external vendors and on-site teams to assure smooth project activity
  • Defines and communicates key deliverables, testing plan, and acceptance criteria
  • Assesses site team capacity / needs to implement project and ramp up teams
  • Oversees commissioning and testing of new equipment, supported by external vendors
  • Develop and execute projects with various stakeholders including project engineers and managers, plant processing operations and maintenance, vendors, procurement, EPCM, and external construction management companies
  • Responsible for project functions including but not limited to Project Management, Site Management, Project Control Management, Engineering Management, Procurement, Construction Management, etc. are all coordinated and properly staffed to meet the goals
  • Establish a working relationship with operations management needed to facilitate the coordination and execution of project work, such that the operational impact is minimized
  • Monitor engineering progress against budget and forecasted schedule
  • Contribute to Management of Change (MOC) plans, and actively manage the risks of the projects and the mine site
  • Prepare project estimates, budget, schedules, and execution plans on an RFP basis with external vendors and consultants to achieve the project(s) goals
  • Preparing the engineering budget, and project schedules
  • Prepare and submit reports on the progress and status of the project
  • Maintain effective and ongoing communications with construction and contractor management teams
  • Assist with project QA/QC and commissioning systems, transition packages, and handover documentation
  • Perform other project engineering and project management-related duties
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and more than 5 years of project engineering, management experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary
  • Strong track record of successfully completed projects in an industrial setting/industry – mining preferred
