Our client is seeking a Benefits Advisor to join a strategic and forward-thinking team in Canada. This role will support the design, management, and continuous improvement of benefits programs serving unionized, non-unionized, and retiree populations.
The Benefits Advisor will play a key role in developing benefits strategies, enhancing employee well-being and experience, supporting business objectives, and ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of benefits programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Canadian disability programs, including Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD).
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to health, wellness, and disability programs to improve employee experience and program effectiveness.
- Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and strategic insights to support decision-making.
- Provide analytical and financial support for collective bargaining, forecasting, budgeting, and benefits cost modelling.
- Manage relationships with external benefits vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Support the annual FlexBenefits enrollment process, including planning, communications, and issue resolution.
- Lead or contribute to benefits-related projects, process improvements, and program enhancements.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging practices to identify opportunities to enhance the organization’s benefits strategy.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Benefits, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits strategy, benefits management, total rewards, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, process improvements, and benefits program enhancements.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, vendors, and external partners.
- Experience working with unionized and non-unionized employee populations is considered an asset.
