We’re looking for an experienced Senior Joint Venture Accounting & Audit Analyst to join a large organization for a six-month contract starting October 1st. This role is located downtown Calgary.
This is a specialized role focused on investigating and resolving outstanding customer audits, clearing legacy audit items, and working across accounting, commercial and legal teams to drive audits through to completion.
The ideal candidate brings significant oil & gas accounting experience, strong knowledge of PASC procedures, and the ability to independently investigate complex audit queries and determine what is needed to resolve them.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Investigate outstanding customer audit queries and determine the supporting information required to resolve them.
- Gather documentation and prepare clear, well-supported audit responses.
- Review previously submitted audit responses and follow up on outstanding items to move audits toward closure.
- Partner with Financial Accounting, Production Accounting, Commercial, Legal and other internal stakeholders to resolve audit issues.
- Compile audit evidence and supporting documentation for final responses.
- Manage audit documentation and files within SharePoint.
- Support monthly audit progress reporting for senior management.
- Identify opportunities to improve audit processes and recommend best practices.
- Manage multiple outstanding audits and priorities while driving work through to completion.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in joint venture accounting, customer audits, oil & gas accounting, or a closely related area.
- Strong understanding of PASC procedures and industry accounting practices.
- Previous experience investigating and resolving customer or joint venture audit queries.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Experience with Qbyte, PAS, SAP and/or EnergyLink is an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and macros.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex accounting information and clearly document findings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience navigating audit discussions and disputes.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Project management experience is considered an asset.
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools and emerging technology to support research, analysis and audit activities.
