Our client is a well-established law firm seeking an experienced Bankruptcy / Insolvency Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Vancouver team. Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to lawyers within a busy litigation practice
- Prepare, revise and format legal correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, court forms and other documents
- Coordinate court filings and ensure documents are submitted accurately and within applicable deadlines
- Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing materials, exhibits and document briefs
- Manage calendars, appointments, meetings, hearings and key litigation deadlines
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files and ensure accurate file management
- Assist with billing, accounts follow-up, file opening and closing, and other general administrative duties
- Communicate with clients, courts and other external parties as required
- Provide additional administrative and practice support as needed
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant program or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience supporting lawyers in a BC litigation practice
- Previous exposure to insolvency, restructuring or related litigation work is considered a strong asset
- Good knowledge of BC litigation procedures and Supreme Court Civil Rules
- Strong document preparation, proofreading and formatting skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, along with familiarity with legal document management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, client-focused approach with a strong commitment to providing high-quality service
