We have partnered with a growing Burnaby-based CPA firm to add an experienced Manager to their team.
This is a strong opportunity for a CPA coming from a small-to-mid-sized public practice firm who enjoys having broad involvement across assurance, compilations and Canadian tax. While the preference is for someone already operating at the Manager level, they are also open to a strong Senior Accountant who is ready to take the next step.
About the Role
You will manage a portfolio of private company clients while overseeing engagements from planning through completion. The position offers a broad scope across assurance, accounting and tax, along with responsibility for client relationships and developing junior staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage review, compilation and assurance engagements
- Prepare and review financial statements
- Review T1 and T2 tax returns and support tax planning for owner-managed businesses
- Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines and billing
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and maintain strong ongoing relationships
- Review work and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate staff
- Coach, train and develop team members
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and efficiencies
- Support firm-wide initiatives and quality control standards
Who We’re Looking For
- CPA designation required
- 4+ years of recent Canadian public practice experience
- Strong experience working with private/owner-managed businesses
- Hands-on experience across assurance, review and compilation engagements
- Experience preparing/reviewing Canadian personal and corporate tax returns
- Ideally 1+ year of experience at the Manager level
- Strong Senior Accountants who are ready for an immediate step into Manager may also be considered
- Strong client management, communication and staff mentorship skills
