We’re partnering with a large, established organization in Edmonton to recruit a Tax Accountant to join a small, collaborative corporate tax team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with approximately 3–5 years of experience who has developed strong accounting fundamentals and is genuinely interested in building a long-term career in tax. Public practice experience is highly valued, particularly for someone who has gained solid accounting/audit experience and is now looking to specialize.
The role offers exposure to Canadian and international tax, foreign affiliates and specialized technical work that can be difficult to gain early in your career.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare and support corporate income tax compliance and tax provisions.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting.
- Support GST/PST compliance and provide technical guidance to internal accounting teams.
- Assist with T1134 and country-by-country reporting.
- Gain exposure to international tax, foreign affiliates and surplus calculations.
- Support CRA audits, GST reviews and other tax inquiries.
- Research Canadian tax legislation and emerging tax developments.
- Support year-end accounting activities and financial statement preparation.
- Work with finance and operational teams on tax-related questions and projects.
- Contribute to tax automation, technology and process improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately 3–5 years of progressive accounting and/or tax experience.
- Strong overall accounting knowledge in addition to tax exposure.
- Public practice experience is considered a strong asset.
- CPA designation or well advanced toward completing the Canadian CPA program.
- Genuine interest in specializing and building a career in tax.
- Enrolment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program is an asset; strong interest in completing it will also be considered.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to review your own work.
- Comfortable with technology, automation and evolving tools.
- Collaborative, easygoing and eager to learn in a small, hands-on team.
- Strong Excel skills; TaxPrep and CaseWare experience are assets.
