We’re recruiting an experienced Issues Manager to support an executive office within the Government of Alberta.
This is a fast-paced, highly visible role for someone who understands how government executive offices operate and can confidently manage competing priorities, emerging issues, and time-sensitive requests. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to ensure briefing materials, correspondence, action requests, and key deliverables are accurate, well coordinated, and completed on time.
This is a 3-month contract located downtown Edmonton.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Track high-priority action requests, commitments, deadlines and follow-ups
- Prepare and coordinate briefing notes, decision documents, correspondence, reports and presentations
- Review executive materials for accuracy, completeness and quality before they reach senior leadership
- Gather information from multiple branches and turn it into clear, concise materials for executive review
- Identify emerging issues, risks and gaps and ensure they are escalated appropriately
- Coordinate responses to requests from senior leadership, Ministerial offices, central agencies and other government stakeholders
- Manage executive meetings, agendas, action items and follow-up requirements
- Maintain effective tracking systems and documentation
- Manage and organize documents and information within SharePoint
- Use 1GX for applicable reporting, approvals, tracking and administrative/financial processes
- Support business planning, reporting and financial tracking as required
- Work across branches to obtain information and keep time-sensitive deliverables moving
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tracking and information flow within the ADM Office
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
What We’re Looking For
- Previous Government of Alberta experience is strongly preferred
- Experience supporting an executive office or senior government leadership team
- Strong issues management, executive coordination or program/operational management experience
- Demonstrated experience preparing briefing notes, executive correspondence, reports and decision materials
- Hands-on experience with 1GX
- Strong SharePoint experience
- Excellent written communication and ability to summarize complex information clearly and concisely
- Ability to manage multiple urgent and competing priorities without losing attention to detail
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
