We are hiring a Construction Coordinator for our Surrey construction client for a 1-year contract position. Our client is seeking a Construction Coordinator to support multiple residential construction projects from tender through closeout. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved across the full construction cycle and wants to work closely with Project Managers, site teams, trades, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
About Our Client
Our client is an established residential developer and builder specializing in townhome communities throughout Surrey. The construction team manages multiple projects at various stages of development, creating a collaborative and hands-on environment where strong communication, accountability, and initiative are highly valued.
The team operates in a work-hard, play-hard environment and is looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of their work, making decisions, and moving priorities forward without being heavily micromanaged.
About the Opportunity
The Construction Coordinator will work alongside multiple Project Managers, supporting multiple residential projects and buildings throughout Surrey. Unlike roles that focus on only one portion of the construction process, this position provides exposure to the entire project lifecycle, from trade tenders and project setup through construction, occupancy planning, and final closeout.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is highly organized, proactive, and enjoys having a broad scope of responsibility. With multiple priorities moving simultaneously, the successful candidate will need to understand what requires immediate attention, anticipate potential issues, and ensure deadlines and deliverables don’t get missed.
About the Position
Reporting to the Construction Manager and working closely with the Project Managers, the Construction Coordinator will act as a central point of coordination for assigned projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate trade tender packages, tender schedules, bid submissions, bid levelling, bid analysis, and recommendations.
- Prepare and issue Letters of Intent and maintain tender and contract tracking.
- Support project setup, including contact lists, utility accounts, project trackers, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate RFIs, Site Instructions, change orders, and other project communications between the site team, consultants, trades, and head office.
- Review and coordinate shop drawings and submittals, including preliminary reviews and follow-up with the Construction Manager.
- Maintain project schedules and trackers, including actual start and finish dates, and identify potential risks to project timelines and occupancy.
- Prepare agendas, minutes, schedules, and follow-up items for trade and management meetings.
- Coordinate consultant inspections and maintain inspection distribution lists.
- Support sales coordination, including option upgrade timelines, sales-driven changes, and estimated completion dates.
- Coordinate building signage, security labelling, parking and storage allocation, enterphone programming, and other occupancy requirements.
- Manage commissioning, final inspection, and closeout activities, including as-built documentation and closeout tracking.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure current drawings and records are properly filed and maintained in ProjectSight.
- Work closely with Project Managers, the Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, accounting, site teams, trades, and consultants to keep projects moving forward.
- Attend site meetings approximately once or twice per week at projects throughout Surrey.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in a Project Coordinator or Project Administrator role.
- Construction industry experience, ideally within residential construction or development.
- Strong understanding of the construction process from start to finish.
- Experience reviewing and understanding shop drawings.
- Experience with contracts, change orders, RFIs, project documentation, scheduling, or trade coordination.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction project management software is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Strong attention to detail and a highly process-driven approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when working with trades, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the confidence to take initiative and identify what needs to be done.
- The ability to work collaboratively while also being comfortable being assertive when follow-up or accountability is required.
- Adaptability and the ability to remain calm and effective when priorities change.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, as the role requires travel to construction sites in Surrey.
Compensation
- $90,000–$95,000 base salary, with some flexibility depending on experience.
- Annual discretionary bonus.
- Extended health and dental benefits following probation, with 100% employer-paid coverage.
- 3 weeks’ vacation.
