Our client is a well-established Canadian commercial P&C insurer with a strong broker network and a reputation for delivering smart, practical underwriting solutions. They’re adding an experienced Commercial Underwriting Specialist to help grow and manage a profitable mid-market portfolio in Ontario.
Compensation
- $115,000 to $140,000 or more depending on relevant experience

Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a profitable commercial P&C portfolio (new business, renewals, endorsements)
- Maintain and deepen broker relationships through regular engagement, including broker visits/meetings
- Negotiate coverage and pricing, ensuring alignment with underwriting appetite and profitability goals
- Use portfolio metrics to support decision-making and performance management
- Complete required documentation and participate in underwriting audits as needed
- Contribute to a strong team environment and mentor/coach junior colleagues
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience in a carrier setting (mid-market exposure strongly preferred)
- Hands-on underwriting expertise in Construction & Manufacturing is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted broker relationships (broker-facing experience preferred)
- Strong analytical/portfolio mindset and comfort working with performance metrics
- Confident communicator with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach
- CIP designation is an asset (or working toward it)
