Join a leading organization and advance your payroll career! Aplin is currently recruiting for a Bilingual Payroll Specialist to join a busy centralized payroll team supporting operations across Canada, with a focus on the Quebec district.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is comfortable with full-cycle payroll, hourly employees, and a fast-paced environment.
Location: Edmonton, Montreal, or Ottawa
Work Arrangement: In-office
Compensation
- $65,000–$77,000 annually, based on experience and location
- Annual/performance bonus

Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle weekly payroll for hourly employees.
- Process new hires, terminations, transfers, and employee changes.
- Review and process time entries and support the transition from paper time cards to electronic timekeeping.
- Process payroll remittances, deductions, benefits, and adjustments.
- Prepare T4s, Relevé 1s, and other year-end payroll reporting.
- Reconcile and remit payroll and union benefit liabilities.
- Ensure payroll complies with Quebec requirements, government legislation, and collective agreements.
- Work closely with internal teams, employees, and union representatives.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
Qualifications
- Fluent in both written and spoken French and English is mandatory.
- Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience, ideally 5+ years.
- Quebec payroll experience is strongly preferred.
- Union payroll experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, deductions, benefits, and remittances.
- Experience with hourly payroll in a high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- PCP certification or working toward PCP is preferred.
- Experience with JD Edwards/JDE or Oracle payroll systems is an asset.
- Must be comfortable working in-office in Edmonton, Montreal, or Ottawa.
