Our client, a fast-growing specialty contractor in the Lower Mainland, is looking for a PM/Operations Manager to become the go-to leader who keeps projects moving, teams aligned, and job sites running like clockwork. This is a true right-hand role: you will be the key point person for Project Managers and site leadership, bringing structure, accountability, and strong field execution across multiple active projects while protecting scope, margins, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple concurrent sites, balancing labour, materials, scheduling, and quality
- Manage and mentor Project Managers and site supers, setting clear expectations and tightening reporting rhythms
- Control material wastage and labour productivity through consistent site walks and real-time coaching
- Drive QA/QC and support health and safety alignment in partnership with the internal safety lead
- Be the firm front line on disputes, extras, scope gaps, and contract language—ensuring the company’s position is protected
- Keep projects resourced and moving, anticipating issues before they become expensive surprises
- Support targeted business development efforts by helping build relationships with a small number of strategic new partners each year
- Contribute to estimating and pre-construction input as needed to set teams up for clean execution
Qualifications
- Proven construction operations leadership, ideally in drywall and steel stud or closely related scopes
- Strong command of field execution: planning, sequencing, labour allocation, and site coordination
- Experience managing PMs and site leadership across multiple active projects simultaneously
- Confidence being the tough voice when required, including negotiating extras and managing GC disputes
- Ability to implement structure and cadence where reporting has been more informal
- Comfort working field-first with a mix of office and site time across the Lower Mainland
- Bonus points for general contractor experience, estimating exposure, and a targeted business development mindset
- Punjabi language skills are an asset given the subcontractor landscape
- Preferred background includes Senior PM, Project Director, or Operations leadership experience in a growth environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Base: $120K to $150K (flexible). Strong candidates—especially with GC background plus BD and PM experience—may land higher.
- Vacation: 4 weeks (e.g., a 2 + 2 structure).
- Vehicle: Gas allowance minimum; open to a pickup if needed.
