Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance team on a 10-month contract in a hybrid environment downtown Calgary. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, driving strategic initiatives, and delivering meaningful financial insights that support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted finance subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to finance, leadership, and internal business partners.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate financial and operational issues, identifying risks, opportunities, and business impacts.
- Develop recommendations that support informed decision-making and organizational objectives.
- Coordinate and support finance, strategic, and operational projects across multiple functional areas.
- Supporting the annual ICAAP process, including financial stress testing and risk scenario analysis.
- Maintain, enhance, and continuously improve forecasting models to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and prepare reports and presentations for management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, reporting, and overall business performance.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
- 3+ years within the banking or financial institution sector is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or a senior financial analyst role.
- Strong experience with forecasting – this environment has very comprehensive forecasting and is extremely detailed.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Workday and Epicor (GL) is an asset.
