Our client, a well-established Law firm located in Downtown Toronto, ON is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their leadership team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to oversee financial operations, support business objectives, and provide leadership across accounting functions. Permanent Opportunity!
The successful candidate will be a strategic and operational finance leader who enjoys working closely with senior leadership, improving processes, and developing high-performing teams.
Benefits & Perks:
Compensation: $160,000 – $210,000 base salary (based on experience)
Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus opportunity
Vacation: 4 weeks’ vacation

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Downtown Toronto
Work Model: Fully on-site, 5 days per week
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the organization’s finance operations.
- Lead and support accounting, billing, and collections functions.
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, analysis, and close processes.
- Review financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting packages.
- Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Support audit requirements, compliance reporting, and financial governance.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Develop, mentor, and engage finance team members while fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Ensure effective use of financial systems and reporting tools.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation required.
- 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Previous experience leading a finance function at the Director, Controller, or Senior Manager level.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience within a law firm environment required.
- Strong full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing finance teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight with day-to-day operational involvement.
- Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and process improvement initiatives required.
- Experience with legal accounting systems (such as Elite 3E or similar platforms) is considered an asset.
