We’re partnering with a well-established Edmonton organization to hire a Senior Accountant for an 18-month maternity leave coverage contract.
Based full-time in-office in Downtown Edmonton, this role will support a complex multi-entity environment with responsibility for financial reporting, consolidations, and tax-related activities. Beyond the day-to-day accounting responsibilities, we’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, improve processes, and help drive system design and workflow optimization initiatives.
System design experience is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple legal entities
- Support quarterly consolidations across approximately 20 entities
- Prepare supporting schedules and assist with corporate tax reporting and compliance activities
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Partner with leadership to redesign accounting workflows and reporting processes
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline recurring accounting activities
- Help drive initiatives focused on accelerating the financial close process
- Leverage technology, workflow enhancements, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and reporting quality
- Support year-end audits and external reporting requirements
What We’re Looking For
- CPA designation preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience preparing financial statements in a multi-entity environment
- Experience with consolidations and corporate tax reporting
- Strong understanding of ASPE and financial reporting best practices
- Experience with system design, workflow optimization, or accounting transformation projects is required
- Experience leveraging technology, automation, or AI tools to improve processes
