Our client, a successful and rapidly growing food manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager – Manufacturing & Food Production to join their team in Mississauga, ON. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is an exciting opportunity to lead an established accounting team while playing a key role in the continued growth and financial success of a well-respected business.
This role is fully on-site (5 days a week) and is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys balancing leadership responsibilities with day-to-day financial oversight and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and cash management
- Monitor and reconcile banking transactions and cash flow activities
- Review operational transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support customer collections, credit notes, deductions, and account reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis
- Coordinate external audits and support tax compliance activities, including HST filings
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes and systems
- Support ERP optimization efforts and future system enhancements
- Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insight and support business decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Candidates with extensive accounting experience and exceptional references may be considered without a CPA
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing, food production, consumer products, distribution, or a related industry
- Previous experience leading or supervising accounting staff
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, audits, and tax compliance
- Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- ERP system experience is highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, audit-ready financial information
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
