We are currently seeking a senior Wills & Estates Lawyer to join a respected and growing Ottawa-based full-service law firm. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced estates practitioner looking to take on a leadership-oriented role within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment that values collegiality, autonomy, mentorship, and long-term succession planning.
About Our Client
Our client is a well-established mid-sized Ottawa law firm with a strong reputation both within the local community and across a broad range of legal practice areas. The firm is recognized for its relationship-driven culture, supportive leadership, and sustainable approach to practice management. With a substantial existing estates infrastructure, the firm benefits from significant recurring estate administration and probate workflow.
The firm prides itself on fostering a highly collegial and social atmosphere where lawyers are encouraged to build long-term careers while maintaining balance and flexibility in their professional lives.
About The Opportunity
This role is ideally suited for a senior estates solicitor seeking a long-term leadership opportunity. The successful candidate will join an established Estates and Succession Law group with the opportunity to eventually lead and help shape the future direction of the department.
The firm is seeking an experienced practitioner with an existing client base and strong independent practice who is interested in joining a stable platform with significant internal workflow already in place. Candidates with combination practices, including Business Law and Estates, are highly encouraged to apply, while experience in estate litigation or tax matters would be viewed as a strong asset.
This opportunity is particularly attractive for lawyers seeking greater autonomy, lower billing pressure, enhanced work-life balance, and a collaborative environment that prioritizes culture and long-term growth over short-term production metrics.
About The Position
The successful candidate will play a senior role within the firm’s Estates and Succession Law group, handling a broad range of matters including estate planning, estate administration, succession planning, trust and capacity matters, and related advisory work. The role will involve managing client relationships, overseeing files independently, and contributing to the continued growth and mentorship of the department.
The firm is open to candidates with portable practices and is equipped to supplement workflow through substantial internally generated estates work. There may also be opportunities to contribute to broader firm leadership, mentor junior lawyers, and participate in long-term departmental succession planning.
The position offers flexibility in practice structure and compensation arrangements, including partnership-track opportunities, counsel structures, and professional corporation arrangements where appropriate.
