Aplin is partnered with a leading Canadian Construction company to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Director, Design & Engineering Services, the Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across Canada within the Buildings and Industrial business units. This role collaborates closely with internal teams, design consultants, and construction partners to ensure electrical systems are designed, reviewed, and delivered efficiently and in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.

Compensation
  • Expected salary range is $120,000 - $170,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical reviews of electrical drawings and specification packages to identify design gaps, missing information, and code compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with design consultants, trade partners, and pre-construction/construction teams throughout project development and execution.
  • Provide recommendations on alternative electrical design strategies to support project performance, constructability, and cost optimization.
  • Identify and support implementation of cost-saving opportunities related to electrical system design and operation.
  • Participate actively in all project phases, including pursuit, design development, construction, and project close-out.
  • Support project teams in resolving technical issues and maintaining alignment with design intent, budget, and schedule.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent accredited engineering degree.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a Canadian provincial engineering association (e.g., PEO).
  • Minimum 15 years of consulting experience in electrical building systems design.
  • Experience delivering projects under collaborative contract models, including:
    • Progressive Design-Build
    • Construction Management
    • Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
    • Alliance contracts
  • Experience on large-scale complex projects valued over $200M (projects over $500M preferred).
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Procore, BIM, Revit, Revizto, and Navisworks.
  • Construction administration experience considered an asset.
  • Exposure to data center projects is considered an asset.
  • LEED certification and/or experience designing buildings aligned with CaGBC Net-Zero Building Design or Performance Certifications is considered an advantage.
