We’re seeking a hands-on, highly capable Senior IT Administrator to own the performance, security, and reliability of our enterprise IT environment. This is a critical role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes full accountability for infrastructure, and brings deep expertise across networking, security, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
This position requires mandatory participation in after-hours support, including responding to urgent security incidents and critical outages.
Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Infrastructure & Networking
- Lead the management of core network and systems infrastructure, including Fortinet firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, hybrid cloud, and SAML authentication environments.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Drive cybersecurity best practices, including Zero Trust principles, incident response (IRP), and disaster recovery (DRP). Actively respond to security incidents and ensure infrastructure resilience and compliance.
- Virtualization, Backup & Core Platforms
- Administer VMware environments, Veeam backups, storage (NAS), VoIP systems (RingCentral), and asset management platforms to ensure business continuity and operational stability.
- Monitoring, Automation & IT Operations
- Leverage RMM and ticketing systems to proactively monitor and resolve issues. Develop PowerShell scripts and automation workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Branch & End-User Support
- Support remote branch offices across Western Canada, ensuring stable connectivity, endpoint management, and remote troubleshooting. Mentor junior IT team members and provide advanced technical support when required.
- Infrastructure Ownership & Projects
- Take full ownership of backups, network systems, cybersecurity incidents, and communications platforms. Lead system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments while continuously improving IT operations.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive IT administration experience, ideally supporting multi-site environments
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Fortinet firewalls, switches, and VPN configurations (required)
- Strong experience with VMware, Veeam, Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise networking
- Proven ability to respond to and manage critical incidents independently
- Experience supporting remote branches and distributed infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, incident response, and disaster recovery
- Experience with RMM and IT service management tools
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness and availability to participate in after-hours support as required (mandatory)
