We are currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant on behalf of a well-established professional services firm located in Downtown Vancouver. This opportunity is well suited for an accounting professional with 3–5 years of experience who thrives in a structured environment and is interested in gaining exposure to trust accounting while working within a collaborative finance team.
About the Role Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant will support the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations, with a primary focus on trust accounting and accounts receivable. This position plays an integral role in month-end processes and will also provide cross-functional support across billing, accounts payable, and collections during peak periods.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable operating within a professional services environment.
Compensation: $65,000 – $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage trust accounting processes, including reviewing and posting trust deposits
- Conduct routine trust account reviews and reconciliations
- Process daily deposits (EFT, cheque, credit card) and maintain supporting documentation
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare month-end general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
- Assist with statutory filings and financial reporting requirements
- Provide support for billing, accounts payable, and client collections as needed
- Monitor AP and AR inboxes and respond to general accounting inquiries
- Provide back-up support across the accounting team
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Experience in AP, AR, billing, or similar functions within a professional services environment
- Prior law firm experience is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Solid understanding of trust accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 365
- Experience with accounting software (Acumin is an asset)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet shifting deadlines
