Aplin is partnered with a government agency to find a AutoCAD Technician to join their team for a 2 year long contract. This is an intermediate-level drafting role suited for someone who can work independently with minimal oversight, but who is not overly senior. The position focuses on maintaining, updating, and standardizing a large portfolio of government facility drawings and related documentation.

Background & Initiative The organization is undertaking several long-term initiatives, including:
  • Modernizing outdated drawings

  • Aligning documentation with updated standards and technologies

  • Organizing and cleaning up historical and current CAD files
Day-to-day work will primarily involve supporting project managers and engineers by reviewing existing floor plans and technical drawings, correcting inaccuracies, and ensuring documentation meets current standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Update and modify AutoCAD drawings, primarily floor plans and building layouts

  • Review existing drawings and documentation for accuracy and compliance with current standards

  • Confirm technical details with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and site teams

  • Categorize, classify, and organize drawings and related documentation

  • Troubleshoot AutoCAD setups and workflows independently

  • Support multiple government construction and facilities projects
Experience Level
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience

  • Strong intermediate AutoCAD skills (CAD Level 2 or equivalent)

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal guidance
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Drafting experience in an engineering or construction environment

  • Experience reviewing, modifying, or creating construction and design drawings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with database management or document control systems
