We are seeking an experienced Water Treatment Operator to support water and wastewater treatment operations at a mining site. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining treatment systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and site water quality standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on operational experience, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment systems, including Membrane Biological Reactor (MBR) systems
- Perform routine inspections, sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure water quality meets regulatory and site requirements
- Adjust treatment processes and chemical dosing as required to maintain optimal system performance
- Troubleshoot operational issues and perform minor maintenance and repairs
- Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and compliance documentation
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and company policies
- Work collaboratively with site operations, environmental teams, and maintenance personnel
- Follow all site safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and training
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Class 3 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (required)
- Proven experience operating MBR (Membrane Biological Reactor) treatment systems
- Experience in industrial or mining water/wastewater treatment environments preferred
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes, equipment, and instrumentation
- Ability to interpret water quality data and make process adjustments
- Mechanically inclined with basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to environmental compliance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote or industrial setting
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work shift schedules and remote site rotations as required
- Physically capable of performing fieldwork in an industrial environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills
