Aplin is proud to assist our client, in their search for a full-time Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support 2 lawyers in their Litigation and Family Law department. This role involves a broad range of legal and administrative responsibilities, including document preparation, file management, and client communication. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while delivering exceptional support to both lawyers and clients.
The successful candidate will have litigation and/or family law experience and a strong working knowledge of litigation processes and procedures. Familiarity with ProLaw is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with key steps in Family Law files, as directed by lawyers
- Manage a busy practice with competing priorities and tight timelines
- Draft court documents, pleadings, and outlines for lawyer review
- Prepare correspondence and records for clients and third parties
- Open, organize, and maintain new and existing client files
- Conduct searches including Land Titles, Corporate Registry, and PPR
- Assist with general litigation tasks such as filing, service of documents, and court scheduling
- Support pre-trial and trial preparation, including maintaining trial binders and tracking limitations
- Maintain and coordinate diary and reminder systems with assigned lawyers
- Communicate frequently with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and external parties
- Draft and prepare client accounts and assist with billing
- Perform general administrative duties including dictation, office coordination, and file management
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of Legal Assistant experience (minimum 2 years in litigation; Family Law experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Court of Justice and Court of King’s Bench litigation processes
- Solid understanding of legal concepts, principles, and terminology
- Ability to anticipate next steps in litigation and apply critical thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional setting
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- High attention to detail and meticulous records management
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
