Aplin has partnered with a leading organization to recruit a Senior Technical Design Engineer for their operations in Pickering, ON.

About the Role
  • Title: Senior Technical Engineer (Design Engineering)
  • Location: Pickering, Ontario – Hybrid (2 days remote)
  • Duration: 9 months
  • Hours: 35 hours/week
  • Contract Type: Open to T4 Employees or Independent Contractors with Aplin
  • $65 to $70 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or support engineering design changes, modifications, and upgrades within OPG ECC process
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation
  • Conduct field walkdowns, technical assessments, and support problem resolution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and Vendors
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews
  • Ensure all work aligns with safety, quality, and OPG standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Instrumentation & Controls Engineering
  • Licensed P.Eng. in Ontario or eligible for PEO registration
  • OPG Design Engineer qualification required
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with OPG ECC process and engineering standards
  • Proficient with relevant tools (AutoCAD, AssetSuite, calculation tools) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with OPG engineering standards, regulatory codes, and procedures is an asset.
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, AssetSuite, engineering calculation tools).
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
