Our client is seeking an experienced Project Leader located in Pickering, ON to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects within a regulated, heavy-industry environment. This role is responsible for leading projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through execution, closeout, and turnover, while ensuring alignment with established project management governance, safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
This position is well suited for candidates with experience as an MTL/FTL and a strong background in project execution within nuclear, power generation, or similarly complex industrial settings.

Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and control assigned projects or project packages across all phases of the project lifecycle
- Apply approved project management methodologies, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, change control, communications, and reporting
- Develop and manage project charters, work breakdown structures (WBS), cost estimates, schedules, risk mitigation plans, and project management plans
- Contribute to business cases and project approval documentation for senior leadership and executive review
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholder input to ensure project requirements are fully defined and executable
- Lead procurement activities including specifications development, bid packages, tender evaluations, and contract recommendations
- Provide contract management oversight through all stages of the contracting process
- Monitor project performance, manage cost and schedule variances, and implement corrective actions as required
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout execution
- Lead and facilitate meetings with designers, contractors, suppliers, operations, and other stakeholders
- Maintain regular communication and reporting to management and key stakeholders
- Support regulatory, licensing, and permitting activities as required
- Coordinate project closeout activities, turnover documentation, and resolution of deficiencies
- Conduct site visits to observe construction, manufacturing progress, and installations in Canada and internationally, as required
- Ensure compliance with corporate, regulatory, and project control processes
- Provide supervisory support when assigned, including work planning, task assignment, and oversight
Qualifications
- Completion of a 4-year university degree in Applied Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (Equivalent education combined with relevant experience will be considered)
- 6–8 years of progressively responsible experience in project management
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from initiation through closeout
- Strong background in cost estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and project controls
- Experience managing multiple contractors, stakeholders, and competing priorities
- Knowledge of construction methods, contract management, codes and standards, QA, and health & safety
- Experience in power generation, nuclear, or similar heavy industrial environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in complex, regulated environments with tight schedules
